Another week of break....

WOW! We still have another whole week off!! Oh what joy......I'm bored stiff!! Plus, John and JEB keep re-getting whatever this stomach virus is that is going around and around and around!! I'm quite tired of it! John will be feeling YUCK!, then the next day better and the next day JEB will have it! We still haven't had Christmas with PaPa and Grandma Sue and Auntie Debra yet!!

Hopefully, we'll feel better this week. I want to finally make it to see Grandpa and go visit my sister and her kids. I've read two books this week and started my third one today....only one more to go! Plus, I really want to scrap.....maybe this week.

JEB is driving us nuts......he's so ready for school to start back. He loves school.....all the kids around and the structure of it all. We probably should have bitten the bullet and just paid for him to be in daycare all week. Oh well......the lonliness of being an only child!

I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday time, even if you have to work thru some of it. Can't believe how fast this year has gone......its almost over. Hopefully this new year will bring new and exciting things to your life! I'm expecting God to do great things for us this year.........

The day after Christmas....

Well, its the day after Christmas and I'm bored.....pretty pathetic, if you ask me. I've been like this since I was a kid.....I hated breaks from school. I think I could be a perpetual student or definitely go to school all year round, with just a few breaks. I love the social aspect of it, I guess. I guess, I also love the routine of it all. I enjoy being around the kids and the other teachers. I know, I know.....sick puppy.......pathetic!

I've spent the day cleaning and just getting some things putting away that needed to be put away. Plus, John has been acting pitiful again today and I'm so over that. Every other day he's sick, it seems like and I don't know what to do to make him feel better.

Back to reading I guess. I do have a couple of books I can read that I haven't read already or I can scrap......neither sound too awfully appealing to me.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Hey all.....I hope as you read this you are fonding remembering your morning or last evening's celebration of the birth of our Lord and Saviour!! And then the gifts!! Wow, I did great! Got John several things he wanted and needed....I got slippers (needed badly), Alias Season 1 and 2, Pirates 3, several candles from Yankee Candle (always a hit) and some hand-picked boxes of Russell Stover's candies.....yummo! But I think for me, it was all about watching JEB open his presents and being sooooo excited about a box of crayons and color books, or a new box of LEGOS, or a big LEGO pad to build things on, or a SHREK flashlight! He was so fun to watch!! I was sick with the stomach bug yesterday, but at least I feel better today....sort of. Still sort of tired, but not napping every hour!

I certainly hope all is well with you and you had a wonderful holiday!!

It's almost my birthday.....it's almost my birthday!!

I will be 47 yrs. old at 12:28 a.m. officially on Dec. 22nd!! WOO-HOO!!

John and I went shopping today....he had to finish shopping for me and we got a few things for PaPa from JEB and a couple of more things for JEB ( actually with a gift card from last year's presents) and then went to lunch to celebrate my birthday since JEB was in school and we weren't!! We went for Chinese......which was great! P.F. Chang's Chinese Bistro.....great food, lots of food served family style. I enjoyed it.....and that's all that matters!

We came home and wrapped gifts and now the space under our tree is jammed with gifts. I'm excited to see what I got......and I can't wait to see JEB open his gifts that are all wrapped in SHREK paper!! He'll love it!

Not much happening.....we're on break now. 16 days of vacation......and I'm going to work on the potty-training thing with JEB. We'll see how that goes......

Well, 7 days and counting.....

Hey everyone. Sorry its been awhile, but John has been sick this week.....the flu, we think. Plus, I've been busy doing my holiday baking!! My favorite thing to do....I make cutout cookies for my class to decorate (last wkend) and then make holiday trays or packages for people at school or friends. I make Chex mix, both sweet and a salty version, no-bake oatmeal chocolate cookies, snowball nut cookies (the ones with powdered sugar on them), mini-cutouts, fudge, and a cheese ball to die for!! So, I took Friday and Monday off to do all of this, but with John home on Friday, it sort of dampered it. I usually have the house filled with holiday music, as loud as I can stand it....usually one of my three Amy Grant Christmas CD's......and just bake and cook to my heart's content. Oh well, hopefully on Monday I'll be able to do that.

Only one week till my birthday......I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to it or not. We'll see how the week goes.......my class is going bowling for our Christmas party, but I also use it to celebrate my birthday with them. We'll have a blast....I love to bowl. I used to be quite good at it, but not so much anymore. We usually get a babysitter, go out to eat and then to a movie.....this year I told John I didn't want to do that....just all three of us go out to eat. That's all.

I usually love Christmas.....but this year John really hasn't been into it for some reason. And on top of everything....the tree lights broke!! We have one (we bought for $100 last year at Kmart) with all the lights already on it. Well, it comes together in three pieces and the very top section of lights on the middle part went out and we can't figure out how to fix them! We changed the fuses in all the possible plugs for that section, but still no luck.....which of course bums me out! That's one of my favorite parts......looking at the lights at night with all of the house lights out. What a bummer!! I told John maybe when we take it apart we'll be able to figure out how to fix it!! Hope so, or it's back to Kmart next day after Thanksgiving for a good deal on a new tree!!

Only four more days of school, but for me only three. Well, actually two and a half, since Thursday is a half-day! I'm glad to be out of school for a few days (two weeks) but that means I'm home with JEB and John for that time. JEB will probably drive both of us crazy....he's decided that he wants us to entertain him and do everything with him now. I'm trying to line up something with one of the girls in my class to come over two or three days and play with him. Her mom works at JEB's school and she would love it.....so I think we'll do that. It'll give him someone to play with for those days. Then we'll be going to PaPa's house on Christmas and up to Florence to visit with my sister and her family for a day, so he'll have cousins to play with!

I think I'll scrap over this vacation.....try to get caught up with JEB's book. Yeah, we'll see about that.

Well, gotta run. Baking calls again. I needed a break, so sat down to post so that Mackenzie wouldn't be too upset with me. Love ya, Kenz!!

Only 20 more days.....

Well, its almost here......Christmas! Plus, my birthday is only 17 days away. I start reminding John that my birthday if coming, so he won't forget, but he just doesn't seem to get it. Birthdays are such a BIG deal to me....my grandma always made a BIG deal of my birthday. It's the one day I get to be all about ME and feel special. Although, John doesn't get it. I want JEB to feel like he's so important on his birthday.....I wake up singing Happy Birthday to myself, because John won't do it! I'll have to remember to teach it to JEB! He'll sing to me!!

I still haven't wrapped any gifts yet.....I need to do that, but then JEB will just try to open them, so maybe I'll wait until right before Christmas. It might be safer!

I love just looking at the tree and the lights.....and I love driving around and looking at the houses all decorated up for the holidays. That's what we do on Christmas Eve after we go to church.....drive all over and look at lights! It's my favorite thing to do!

I hope everyone gets a really neat present....I got some good things for JEB and for John.

I know....I know......I need to write more often.....

Hey there every one......I hope everyone had a wonderful Turkey day.....my school days off were wonderful!! On Wednesday, I got up and did my mile and a half walk and then went and did some early Christmas shopping and got some great deals on stuff for my sister and nieces!! Then, on Thursday we went to John's dad's house, well we went out to eat at Cracker Barrel and then back to the house. I put up the tree on Friday afternoon/evening, but that was after I got up at 3:30 AM, (yes, you read that correctly) and went shopping with a friend of mine to get the good sales!! It was so much fun!!! I will definitely do it again!! I did get some things, but even after we hit places like Kohl's, Belk's, and the like.....we spent the majority of our time shopping at WAL-Mart!! Go figure!!

We really just relaxed the rest of the wkend......looking forward to Christmas!! I love the trees, and the lights and getting things all decorated up! My fav is going around town looking at house lights on my birthday, after we go out for dinner!

here I am....

Hey all....sorry to not blog in two wks......hectic schedule, papers to grade and my son is driving us nuts!!

All is well. Looking forward to having a few days off....although I still enjoy being with my class and being at school. We did a talent show on Friday....I was in charge....went well.....it was sponsored by the Drama dept. which I head. Good for the student body! Most of the acts were 4-6th graders, but we hand picked a few from the HS....it was fun!

Hope all of you reading this have a very Blessed Thanksgiving and a wonderful time getting ready for Christmas!!

one more down.....

One more tooth out and I'm not sure how many more to go.....32 teeth minus 3....that leaves 29! My BOY child was having a blast jumping off of our bed onto the floor and had a mishap that landed him face first on the floor and minus a front tooth!! Lots of blood, which he did not like I might add, but thankfully Daddy was there to save the day and clean up the mess!!

It's a beautiful fall morning.....cold, crisp and the leaves are gorgeous!! To all of my friends and family....enjoy God this morning!!

This is for Mackenzie....

Hey all.....well, John's team didn't win a game or match at state but at least they made it to the final eight teams in Class 1A!! The team that beat them also beat the number one team in the state, so we didn't feel quite so bad! The girls were nervous and not really on their game until about the end of the 2nd game and into the third game. By then, the other team had already won two games and were on their way to winning their 3rd and final one. We started to sort of get into it and then it was over......I'm so proud of them though! John too! So their season record ended up being 38-15....not too bad!!

I'm glad it's Thanksgiving season! I love it! I love fall and all of the colors!! But Christmas is fun too! Of course, it could have something to do with my birthday being close to Christmas!

All is well here.....just trying to keep up with grading papers and getting report cards done!

JEB lost another tooth....

Well, it happened.....by accident......JEB was playing on Friday afternoon on the back porch and he pulled his bball hoop over on himself and somehow got wedged between the post and the collapsed hoop, which knocked out his loose bottom tooth and knockedquite loose one of the top two teeth, plus he got a nice gash in his lip and ended up with a nice fat lip!! It definitely must be a BOY thing!

We went to the pumpkin patch yesterday afternoon and had fun. We took John's team as a celebration of making it to the state playoffs. I thought it would be a different activity for them to do as a team. Rode the hay wagon to the patch and JEB picked out a pumpkin. The sunset was beautiful and it was a gorgeous evening to do it!! JEB gets a little crazy doing things like that because its out of his norm, but overall it was fun. I got my funnel cake and cotton candy, so I'm happy!! I don't know what it is about carnival kind of food that just makes me want to eat it all.........

This week will be hectic, but I'll let y'all know what's happening with the team and how they play.

THEY WON!!!!!!!!!!

OH MY GOSH!!!! John's team won their match tonight!! They will now go on to the Elite Eight at the STATE Tourney on Wednesday!! This is only the 2nd time in PCA history and the 1st time in 11 yrs. for the volleyball team to go to the STATE tournament!!

I'm so proud of them all.....girls and John!! They so deserve it!! They made this their season goal and accomplished it!!

Here I am again.....

Well, John's team has made it to sub-state on Thursday night.....and the best part is they don't have to travel to Dothan, like last year. They won both of their early matches yesterday, but lost to cross-town rival Christian school, JCA in four games. They just didn't play their "A" game when they needed to.....John was a little upset with them, but I pointed out that they finished better than they did last year (3rd place) and they get to host the game instead of traveling to Dothan. I also tried to tell him he needs to move on, get over it and concentrate on Thursday's game! If they win, they make "The Elite Eight" and move on to the first round of State Championships on Oct. 31st, which is their team goal for the year. So far, their season is 37-14.....not bad considering the last two seasons, they didn't win 14 games combined!! I'm very proud of the girls and John!!

JEB is feeling much better now that he's had a week of antibiotics in him.....not so much coughing and he's sleeping much better and staying in his bed all night!! That means good sleep for mommy and daddy!

Can you even believe that it isn't even Halloween yet and they already have out the Christmas stuff???? I haven't even THOUGHT about Christmas yet.....let alone buy candy for the trick-or-treaters!! And do you even think I have a pumpkin yet?? Or have I taken JEB to the Pumpkin Patch???? NO! And they want me to look at Christmas decorations??? They've all gone mad I'm telling you!

All else is well in our part of the world......my class is still great and I'm loving being their teacher. Makes my day go so much better!!

Remember to pray for us still as we labor for God in the world. We'll be praying for all of you!

It's finally FALL......

Hey all! I just have to say I'm soooooo glad that cooler weather has finally hit the South!! It's been so awfully hot and humid this summer and I'm so glad the weather has changed!! It was 47 degrees around this area this morning.....it was sooooooo nice!! I actually wore jeans to school today (casual day)! I love the crisp, fall mornings where you see your breath in the air as you walk to your car to go to school/work. The beautiful colors of the leaves changing! God gave us such awesome things to enjoy here on this earth, huh???

This week has actually not been too bad, but I'm sooooooo far behind in grading. I have a stack of umpteen papers to grade.......YUCK! I picked up a tutoring job after school for a half-hour every day....which translates into an extra $50 a week! Not bad, huh???

Hope all is going well for everyone. John's vball team plays in the area tournament on Monday.....hopefully they will win it! Then its on to regional play......which hopefully, they will win that too!

Ok.....so I'm not really doing so well at this......

Yes, yes, yes.....I'm still here. I've been lazy about writing and I know I shouldn't because there are a few of you that add comments (Mackenzie....I love you, ya know) and Kim, who I thought had dropped off the face of the earth, but hasn't....and I should keep up.....so I'll try harder this week. I PROMISE!

All is going well here.......JEB's other tooth still hasn't fallen out yet, but is getting more and more loose. I'm still enjoying my class and enjoying school, though I'm still waiting on any news of the possibility of starting our own school.......PRAY! John's volleyball team finished out its regular season 33-13 which is AWESOME!! They hosted a tournament this last Saturday and they won it!! GO GIRLS! This is the best season that he's had in ages!! Now they will play in post-season stuff starting next Monday, 10/15. They should win, hopefully.

Church was awesome this morning.......anyone can check out the sermon's Pastor Chris preaches........www.churchofthehighlands.com I love church.......I get so blessed!

Hey there everyone.....

Well, its been a week.......JEB lost his first tooth yesterday!! What a big boy he is now!! His next one isn't far behind either! So now he has a little hole in the bottom row of teeth! What a cutie!

He's also been sick all week....John stayed home with him M-T-W and I'm staying home today. He's just got all of that "crud" in his chest....coughing.....sounds horrible......not sleeping well....which means we aren't sleeping well......and I think tomorrow he will go to school with us and then let him have the whole wkend to get totally better!

AND......we are still somewhat concerned about the job situation/enrollment/budget at the school where we teach. The new principal did say that he was looking into other options for how to come up with the $$ needed....fundraisers, etc. So any of you who were praying.....keep it up!

Not much really going on....vball of course. John's team is now 21-7, which is the best Parkway has ever done in vball!!

Gotta go get some grading done....

ok, here I am.....really!

Hello everyone. I'm trying to do this from school......during a break, but our internet connection is like....."dinosauric" slow, so we'll see how this goes!

School is going well and I adore my class! They are relatively quiet and very loving! We will have a blast this year, I'm quite sure of it!

JEB is doing great.....we got a progress report on him and the teacher said he was really doing well. I can tell he's really paying attention to things when we work on his homework every night. He also has his first two teeth that are loose....his bottom middle teeth. One of them is really, really loose.....I try to wiggle it often to see if I can get it to come out! And man, has the tooth fairy really increased her prices!! My kids at school said the going rate for a tooth these days is $5!!!!! That's highway robbery!! I think I'll settle for $1....since he really doesn't understand about money or the tooth fairy! Man, when my teeth fell out I only got a quarter!

Keep praying for our current school......we are still short about 12 kids to meet the projected budget......so far, no lay-offs. BUT I know GOD has it under control! AMEN!

I'm not doing this very well.....

Hello everyone.....I'm so sorry that I haven't written in almost two wks. BAD GIRL!! Things are quite busy with school in session. I know that's not a very good excuse but I do well to even get to my email most days!

Anyway, our school numbers are at 420 officially, so we could use 10-15 more to secure all jobs at my school. I HATE worrying and fretting about this.....continue praying with me. My class is such a dream.....they are wonderful children! I'm going to enjoy them so much! Thank you Jesus!

I hope everyone reading this has a wonderful Labor Day wkend. We are doing nothing but being in a vegetative state all wkend. Nothing much else really going on. I know....I'm boring!

I'm still here....

Hello everyone.....I'm so sorry to have taken two wks. to post anything. My wks. now are quite hectic and my paper grading is beginning to pile.....

School is going absolutely wonderful! I have the most awesome class this year. They are relatively quiet.....although they will whisper to one another, but somehow I can deal with that way easier than all the issues with constant talking out loud last year! I have 13 kids in my class, and they are a teacher's dream!!! God is good!! Our numbers are at around 425 which is way better than I thought they would be....PRAISE THE LORD!!

Volleyball is in full swing for John now so I'm going to be running back and forth to games and such. JEB loves going to watch and I'm busy taking pictures for our scrapbooks. I make a scrapbk for every season wherever we are. I finally finished the one from when we were in Idaho. Now I can actually begin on our Parkway books!! WOW, I might actually catch up!

hey everyone....

Hey there everyone. Whew....what a hectic three days this week has been! I've been running around like crazy at school.....talking to everyone and seeing what's been happening with them.

Our school numbers are better.....we are at 391 as of this morning, so we'll see what the number is in the morning. Hopefully closer to 400! My classroom is taking shape and I'm slowly cleaning out and purging last years stuff. BORING!

Not much really happening yet....kids come on Monday next wk. The only bad thing is I'm exhausted when I come home....then to cook dinner, get JEB bathed and ready for bed and clean up after dinner and then try to relax a little....by 8 pm, I'm out cold on the couch. Sad, huh??

My summer is over.....

Well, its time to start school again! YIPEE!! I actually can't wait! I'll be happy to see everyone....teachers and students! Although we have a new principal at our school, who was just hired last week as a matter of fact and will not actually be here for two weeks or so while he moves his family here from Corpus Christi, TX. His wife is going to be teaching K5 at a local public school and his 4th grade son will go to our school. Should be interesting. Our principal from the last two yrs. is going back to being the librarian and writing grants for the school. Very interesting.

The only glitch is that we are still about 45 students short of the number we need to be at to be on budget. So it will be interesting to see if any teachers are told they are on the "no job w/o more kids" bubble. I was there last year. It was not fun....believe me! Hopefully this won't happen. We've been getting in 30-35 kids the past two weeks, so its definitely possible. PRAY!!

Teenagers....

Well, the staying at school part got changed to staying at our house. It really is sort of fun to have them all here. JEB is in heaven having "Free entertainment"! But.......let me tell you how messy they can be......VERY MESSY!! Yesterday, when they were going to leave for their days adventures, I cleaned up so much left over food and drinks! I finally told them this....."I am NOT your MOTHER and I am NOT your MAID!! Clean up after yourselves!!" Oh my goodness!

Today we are taking them to the local mall and sending them on a picture scavenger hunt. It should be so much fun!!

I'll let everyone know if I make it thru the wkend.

It's Saturday....

Wow, this week has gone really fast. John's team had another summer tournament today. They didn't do as well as last week, but not too bad either. Considering they were playing 5A and 6A (the two biggest divisions in Alabama). JEB and I went this morning for two matches and then went to Wal-Mart for our bi-weekly two hour shopping trip. We didn't do too bad today....considering it was Saturday.

John will be home for the next two days then it will be off to school for his Varsity vball retreat. While they are staying at the school and doing many team related things, we will be going to join them for several of the events they are doing.....like bowling, a progressive dinner and then they are coming to our house for a grill out night.

I've been working on lesson plans for this year. I like to get them done...so far I'm up to October. That way they are done and I don't have to worry about doing them.

Wow, it's Thursday already....

I can't believe how fast this week has gone! I'm secretly glad you know, since I'm dying for school to start.

JEB and I went to John's vball tourney on Saturday and I was happily surprised at well the girls on his team were playing together!! I actually asked John where he picked up this team because they were soooooo different than his team from last year!! They won 5 out of 7 games they played while I was watching and came in second for pool play, then turn around and won the whole thing!!! WOW!! I was so amazed!! I'm so glad for them. They have played so hard the past two years and now its finally paying off for them and for John!! HOORAY!!

Then John started the week with a four day vball camp for his JH and JV players. He had one of his former players come down for a couple of days and work with all of them, including his Varsity team, on hitting and how to do it properly. So while she was here, I took care of her two children......which was nice because JEB had playmates, but then I played referree for two days! JEB doesn't quite know what to do when he has playmates over....he kind of just follows them around and watches whatever they do. Occasionally, he will instigate some sort of play, but is mostly happy just to do whatever they do. BUT, he also pushes and tries to wrestle with them and in turn, they don't like it much. GO FIGURE! So, he spent a considerable amount of time in TIME OUT and got several spankings for his efforts. Don't know quite how to make him understand all the ins and outs of child play. Guess it will come with time. Today was payday, ....which we all know means grocery shopping. It was also school registration day and we also had to buy school supplies!!

I'm tuckered out and looking forward to an evening in front of the tv. I know....bad mommy!

Vball has officially begun....

Well, John is off and running already.....he had a summer tourney on Thursday, ALL DAY, and he even didn't get home until almost midnight......then today, he's hosting a tourney at our school. His team is doing pretty good....they won three games on Thursday against some much larger schools. We are considered a 2A (small high school) and they were playing against 4A and 5A....and winning. That really will boost their confidence. His team last yr. wasn't horrible, but they didn't really play well during the season. They would do ok, but couldn't quite pull out all the stops to finish the game and win. His JV went undefeated....so now with quite a few of his JV on his Varsity team this yr., it should be a decent year. Especially if the other day was any indication at all of what the team can produce! It would be nice to have a winning season. The last few yrs. that John has coached, his teams have not had the ability to finish off the game with a win.

I'm so glad that I only have two more wks. of vacation. I'm bored. I enjoy running around and running errands and all the hub-bub that school affords. I'm anxious to meet my new students and see what sorts of personalities I will have in my classroom this year. Last year was ok, but I didn't always have the attitude that I needed to have with my students.....I can be nasty when I need to be. But I have decided that I don't want to be a child's NASTY 5th grade teacher. I had one.....I remember.....it was awful. I have such an impact on these children. I'm praying that God will shine thru me to them and help me remember that I need to love them even when I'm disciplining them. I have to always remember they are just children....10 and 11 yrs. old.....not adults, or even teenagers. So with all of this in mind, I'm hoping to have a great yr. I also can't wait to see the kids from last year. The first few days of school are so much fun!

Peace and quiet....

I love it when I get up early and the house is still and quiet......and you can go outside without sweating and sit on the porch and just simply listen to the sounds of the insects and birds waking....we live in the woods (according to some of our babysitters). Especially after it rains and all of the frogs join in......its really amazing to think that God made all of that in just 6 days....for us to live in and enjoy. Isn't God just awesome??? Thank you Jesus for all of those noises and sounds to simply help remind us that there is a Creator to all of this world.

John has a summer vball tourney today.....all day......left at 6 am and won't be home until late this evening. So JEB and I will go shopping......something different to do. I can get a Starbucks.....I've been in withdrawal all summer......and just mill around the store.

I guess I'll go for now....my mind is blank! Talk to you all later.......

Here is the master of the house learning what "pottying" is all about......reading a good book!!

All is well here in Alabama....especially now that it has started raining. We are about 15 inches below our annual amt. which has put us on stage 3 drought conditions. The grass is actually starting to look green again!

John is at vball practice. This is the beginning of his season for this yr. He will go to a couple of day tournaments, then have summer camp next week. Then he'll start with practices on Aug. 1st and will be busy until the first part of November.

I'm about done with vacation. I'm ready to get back to school. I'm bored! I was always one of those kids that hated summer break because it just wasn't as exciting as all the stuff that was happening at school. Sick, huh??
